Once you have opened the Variable Viewer dialog box, you can query a variable by putting its name in the Name entry field and pressing the Query push button. The name will be there automatically if you double-clicked with the right mouse button on a name in a source view window. You can enter the name manually or select it from the drop-down list box, which contains the ten most recently used names.

If the name is a valid one, its value appears in the Value field and the radio button of its type is checked.

If the name is invalid, the value is set to "<<error>>" and the type is set to "Other".

The type setting is ignored when querying a variable.
