The DOSSHELL stimulus library is a more stable replacement for the existing DOSCMD local application. Both these facilities are provided so that customers using the older DOSCMD without any problems can continue without change.
As the DOSSHELL functions use pipes to communicate with the Microsoft DOS Shell, it is able to perform commands, such as starting other Windows Application, which would cause the older DOSCMD to stop responding.
The demonstration application DOSSHELL within the Samples directory is almost identical to the DOSCMD, which shows how the DOSSHELL has been designed to behave the same as DOSCMD to simplify migration to this new facility.
