The Layout Editor requires a screen size for the objects you create. If you are opening an ESL include file, the file may not contain a screen size environment declaration. If you are starting a new editing session, you may want to set a new screen size. The Screen Size and Optional Files dialog box offers you a selection of screen sizes.
In the Screen Size and Optional Files dialog box, you may also specify a definition file to inform the compiler of definitions it might require and a template file to use as a source for combinations of objects commonly used in user interface design. The Layout Editor provides a sample template file called esltempl.inc which appears as the default template file.
Specifying a definition file or a template is optional. The Layout Editor does not require them.
To specify a screen size
•Select none where a screen size statement is not required.
•Select size to specify the number of horizontal and vertical pixels on the screen.
•Select device units to specify that the screen coordinate system should correspond to the resolution of the display device.
•Select dialog units to express the screen coordinate system in dialog units.
To specify a definition file
•Type in the name of the definition file in the Definition File field, or click the Browse button to select a file from the Open dialog box.
To specify a template file
•Type in the name of the template file in the Template File field, or click the Browse button to select a file from the Open dialog box.
•Click OK. The Layout Editor displays the File Open dialog box and starts to read in the file.
Tips
•The screen size setting and any definition file name or template file name you enter become default values for your next editing session.
•Click the No Templates button if you do not want to use the current template file for your editing session. Clicking the No Templates button rather than erasing the template file name retains the template file for your next editing session.
