EslFonts.fon has been superseded by new open-type fonts;
oEslMono.ttf
oEslCaps.ttf
oEslMonoBold.ttf
oEslMonoBoldOblique.ttf and
oEslMonoOblique.ttf
The old default font "medium" has been replaced by "Esl Mono", although the default font can be configured via the "DEFAULTFONT" parameter in the ESL configuration file.
You can also modify the size of the default font, by setting the "FONTHEIGHT" and "FONTWIDTH" parameters.
FONTCNT=20
FONTWIDTH=12
FONTHEIGHT=20
FONTPATH=%ESL_DIR%
FONTDLL=EslMono.ttf;EslCaps.ttf
DEFAULTFONT=Esl Mono
As the old "ESLFONTS" files contain multiple fonts, certain security tools consider them to be potential virus carriers, so will not allow ESL to install them. If you wish to continue to use the old bitmap fonts, please retain a copy of the ESLFONTS file, before uninstalling, then once the new version of ESL has been installed, copy the font file back into the ESL installation directory.
In certain Windows configurations, non-administrative users are denied authority to install fonts, so we recommend the ESL package is installed, then if the old fonts are required, an administrator installs any additional fonts including the old style ESL "EslFonts.fon", as all Users.
Whilst not recommended, it is still possible to install the old fonts at runtime. To achieve this, set the following configuration parameters:
FONTDLL=EslFonts.fon
DEFAULTFONT=medium
The ESL Helpdesk will be able to assist if you have any issues with using the new fonts, or attempting to retain the old bitmap fonts.
