3270 and 5250 are the generic names of a family of IBM terminals, controllers, and associated software that use a synchronous protocol to communicate with a host.
3270/5250 applications transmit information on a screen-by-screen basis where each screen is made up of individual fields.
Each field may have different attributes (e.g., color, blink, non-display), as well as status information designed to tell the user the progress and status of a screen transmission.
This chapter provides general information about ESL's support for 3270/5250 communications, including the following:
•Components of 3270/5250 Support for ESL
•Connectivity with ESL Using HLLAPI
•Using ECS: Required Procedures
•Declaring the ECS Stimulus Library
•Using 3270 Emulation for More Than One Application
