Characteristics of Field-Oriented (Formatted) Screens

Scroll Prev Top Next More

By definition, a field is at least one character in length. A field can wrap around to the next line, or even to the beginning of the screen buffer. Each field is preceded by a field attribute character that defines the location and attributes of the field, but is not part of the field itself. Each field extends to the next field attribute character that defines the next field in the screen.
