You can replace a text block with spaces by specifying a blank block drawing statement. Unlike any of the other overwrite statements, this statement simply replaces the specified text block with blanks - it does not have a source textual region. It also does not affect the position of the text cursor. For example, if a textual region contains the following:

        blank block column 1 line 1 thru column 1 line 8
