Each conversation in which an ESL program engages is identified by a unique conversation identifier.  A conversation identifier is an ESL integer that is:

•used as an argument in many of the ESL DDE library subroutine and function calls

•passed as the value of eventparam in all of the DDE stimulus library events

The identifier is assigned by the ESL DDE Library.
